He’s played for, recruited for and studied under the likes of Lute Olson and John Calipari. In 2017, Joshua Pastner was named the ACC Coach of the year in just his first year at Georgia Tech and, at just 43 years old, the West Virginia native already has 12 years experience as a Division 1 head coach.
This self-claimed ‘gym rat’ has his Yellowjackets as ready as they can be while discussing the changes in recruiting rules due to the Pandemic and the academic challenges student athletes face while trying to fit in at one of the nation’s elite engineering schools.
As Pastner tells Adam Finkelstein, “you can’t hide anyone academically at Georgia Tech. You got to put your hard-hat on to get a degree”.
Going into the 2020-2021 season, Pastner has put together his best recruiting class ever. In the always ridiculously talent deep ACC conference, he’ll need his 5 star player development momentum to keep rolling.
