Lathan Ransom plays defensive back for Salpointe Catholic High School in Tucson, Arizona. He also likes to make you feel his presence on the football field.
The senior ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ohio State commit is ranked #77 overall and the #4 Safety by Rivals. Ransom feels he’s a versatile defensive back that can play cornerback or safety, but at 6 feet and 200 lbs, his ability to hit like a linebacker is what sets him apart.
According to 24/7 Sports Report Recruiter Blair Angulo, Ransom’s best attributes include, “Athletic build with length. Frame to add weight without sacrificing flexibility. Highly instinctual defensive back with tremendous range. Hard hitter that looks for loud tackles. Covers ground in the back half. Reacts well to plays in front of him. Smooth in his backpedal and closes on the football. Versatility to contribute at nickel and make an impact near the line of scrimmage.”
“He plays with a lot of energy.” says Salpointe head coach Dennis Bene. “His tempo is always up. His attitude is always excellent.”
Teammate and Texas Longhorns RB commit Bijan Robinson says Latham has everything needed to be a top safety, and one thing’s for sure, “you’re gonna feel his presence.”
