The Putnam City West Patriots and Putnam City Pirates got together Friday night at Putnam City Stadium.
It was a new coach and a new attitude for Putnam City, who finished 1-9 overall last season. The Pirates opened the scoring after a Putnam City West turnover, and it soon became apparent that they aren’t rebuilding so much as rebounding. Seth Wisby got the first of his three touchdowns on a 6 yard run.
Later in the quarter, Marcellous Hawkins hooked up with Jermaine Adams for a thirty yard touchdown play that was so smooth, Ford Game of the Week analyst Deion Imade called it “droppin’ a dime to number 9.”

Patriots Rally
But the Patriots came back. Jaheim Butler would have 21 carries for 173 yards including a nice 10 yard touchdown run. That made the score 14-6 in the second quarter.
The Seth Wisby Show
The Pirates responded quickly with another touchdown before halftime. It was Seth Wisby again, this time from 2 yards out to make it 21-6 Putnam City at halftime.
Wisby struck again in the third quarter, taking it in from the four and Putnam City would go on to win by a final score of 28 to 6.
