Las Vegas Strip

As always, there is a lot going on here on the Ninth Island of Las Vegas, and the month of June is no exception. Of course, possibly the biggest news announced recently is the closing date for the iconic Mirage.

This will be the last full month that the property will be open to the public, as they announced an official closing date of July 17th. This is certainly bittersweet, as the Mirage has been a part of the Las Vegas Strip since November 1989. So, if you’re planning a trip to Vegas this month or are a Las Vegas local, you definitely want to add a last stop at the Mirage to your list. They are actually running a special for Unity members (Hard Rock’s Rewards Program) that waives resort fees for stays throughout June and into July. Sadly, with the closure of Mirage, comes the closure of one of our favorite Cirque de Soleil shows, the Beatles Love.

The temps are heating up in Vegas, with average daily temperatures ranging in the low 90’s to low 100’s, and cooling off in the evenings to mid-60’s to mid-70’s. These temps are perfect for those Vegas pool days, just remember to pack your sunscreen!

Credit Cosmopolitan

Speaking of pools, The Cosmopolitan has started their Dive in Movies, where they show movies on a large screen in the evenings at their rooftop pool. This is a fun experience, so swimsuit up, grab a cocktail and enjoy a movie from the pool.

And while on the topic of cocktails, if you have ever wanted to become a mixologist, now is your chance! The Cabinet of Curiosities is offering 90-minute mixology classes Thursdays-Saturdays.

Horseshoe

The Cabinet of Curiosities is located in the lower level of Horseshoe and is a fun place to grab a drink, enjoy all of the oddities located throughout the lounge and even enjoy the speakeasy, The Lock, located inside. This may be a great break from the poker tables for everyone attending the World Series of Poker, which is also located at Horseshoe. This is the 55th annual WSOP, although just the second year that it is being held at the newly renovated poker area of Horseshoe. WSOP kicks off May 28th and runs until July 17th.
