Some teams are nearing an undefeated regular season, while others are making a push for the playoffs. The 2018 campaign is nearing its final weeks — prior to the postseason — and the action continues to be exciting.
Here’s a look at 10 of the top headlines entering another week of the high school football season, with a full slate of games scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 18-20.
1. New team at the top
St. John Bosco (Calif.) became the No. 1 team in the USA Today Super 25 poll this week after it notched a 41-18 win over Mater Dei (Calif.) this past Friday.
It was only Mater Dei’s second loss of the season, and the first was due to forfeit. St. John Bosco improved to 8-0.
St. John Bosco has scored 35 or more points in every game. Its final two games of the regular season are against Santa Margarita (Calif.) and Servite (Calif.).

2. John Curtis on the rise
John Curtis (La.) moved into the USA Today Super 25 poll this week, getting ranked at the No. 25 spot. The Patriots improved to 7-0 with a 58-22 win over St. Augustine (La.) this past Saturday.
It was the most points that John Curtis has scored in a game this season.
Curtis is the second Louisiana team in the Super 25 poll, as undefeated University Lab is ranked No. 14.

3. Jordan returns to Chandler
Before Cameron Jordan was a Pro Bowl defensive end for the New Orleans Saints, he played for Chandler (Ariz.). This past weekend, Jordan returned to his alma mater.
Jordan spoke with the Wolves and donated more than 100 helmets to the team. He was also in town for Chandler’s 62-14 win over Basha (Ariz.).
Chandler is 7-1 this season and ranked No. 22 in the USA Today Super 25 poll.

4. LSU commit leaps over car
LSU fans have to be excited about this top athlete who will be playing for the Tigers next year.
Marcel Brooks, a 4-star linebacker from Marcus (Texas), recently jumped over a car, a feat that is even more impressive after seeing the video on Twitter.
This 6-foot-3, 195-pound commit certainly has incredible athletic ability.

5. 5-star RB continues to weigh options
Kendall Milton, a 5-star running back for Buchanan (Calif.), listed his top 10 schools during the summer after he received more than 40 offers. But Milton continues to weigh his options.
Milton recently told 247sports that his top 10 isn’t a final 10, as teams that have yet to offer him could still be considered.
Here are the schools currently in Milton’s top 10: Alabama, Florida State, Fresno State, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas and USC.

6. Matchup to watch: Mater Dei vs. JSerra Catholic
Mater Dei lost to St. John Bosco last week, but it has a chance to bounce back in a big way this Friday when it travels to JSerra Catholic (Calif.).
This is another matchup between two of the top teams in the nation as Mater Dei (No. 2) and JSerra Catholic (No. 21) are both ranked in the USA Today Super 25 poll.
JSerra Catholic is 7-1 with its lone loss coming against St. John Bosco — a 35-28 defeat on Sept. 28.
7. Other big-time matchups
There are plenty of other great games to watch this weekend.
Here are the matchups that will air live on YurView and be streamed live on YurView.com this weekend:

8. Incredible Play of the Week
Sometimes the path to the end zone isn’t a straight one. That was the case for Jalen Dallas, a receiver for Bremen (Ga.), this past Friday night.
During Bremen’s 49-7 win over Temple (Ga.), Dallas received a handoff and took off toward the right sideline. However, after eluding several defenders on the right, Dallas cut across the field and went down the left sideline.
Dallas covered a lot of ground and eluded multiple defenders, and the play ended with a remarkable touchdown.

9. Top Performance of the Week
Spencer Rattler has done nearly everything during his career at Pinnacle (Ariz.). But he had never led a comeback like the one the Pioneers had this past Friday night.
Pinnacle trailed by 19 points in the second half, but Rattler helped it rally back for a 34-33 win over Liberty (Ariz.), which entered the matchup undefeated.
Rattler passed for 166 yards and four touchdowns. He also became the first Arizona player to pass for more than 11,000 yards in a career.
