The 2017 Louisiana Class 5A State Championship rematch happened Friday Night in Boutte, LA. as the Zachary Broncos came to town to take on the Hahnville Tigers for the game with 2 powerhouses.
Zachary beat Hahnville back in the Superdome in 2017 to capture the state championship and Zachary came in wanting a chance to advance in the playoffs and Hahnville was looking for redemption. Hahnville’s QB Andrew Robison made his third start since the appeal process that took him off the field for the first 8 games of the season. The stadium was rocking with standing room only and the atmosphere was electric.
Hahnville took the opening drive to the 2-yard line, but Zachary shut out Tigers on a 4th and goal and that would set the tone for the game. Coach Brewerton’s crew would take control early and would not let up. Keilon Brown, spread the ball around early, running back RJ Allen put Zachary on the board first with a short TD run.
On Zachary’s next position Brown threw a pick 6 to Maxwell Farrell and Hahnville was on the board. Brown would not be flustered, he would then hit Chandler Whitfield on an 85-yard strike to take command of his offense. Zachary’s defense would not allow Hahnville’s offense to get going.
RJ Allen would finish the game with 4 TDs to lead Zachary, but Zachary’s field general Keilon Brown would take home our player of the game.
With 483 yards of total offense and a final score of 41 to 20, the Zachary Broncos have their sights set on another championship run and they are peaking at the perfect time. Thanks to both schools for a terrific venture for some Louisiana Friday Night Football on Game Time!
