Our final GameTime regular season matchup is this Friday in north Baton Rouge as the Scotlandville Hornets host the Denham Springs Yellow Jackets. The game will be televised & streaming live on YurView. Both teams are heading to the postseason after this game, but they’ll compete in different brackets.
Denham Springs will return to the playoffs this season after missing out last season. First-year head coach Bill Conides has guided the Yellow Jackets to a 6-3 record and a win over the Hornets would give DSHS a winning record in district.
Conides brings an up-tempo attack on offense. The Virginia native was very successful at St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, where he finished with a 34-8 record in three seasons.
He took over a program reeling from a very difficult 2016 campaign. A catastrophic flood damaged the school and the homes for most of the players. Starting quarterback Cameron Feucht is still living in a portable trailer.
Friday marks the final regular season game for Yellow Jackets running back Tyre Golmond, who is the school’s all-time leading rusher with over 4,000 yards. Golmond had 31 carries for 329 yards in a 34-6 blowout win over Central. The 5-6, 160-pounder has received several scholarship offers and LSU continues to actively recruit him.

Feucht has thrown for 1,500 yards and has 16 touchdowns. Golmond is the leading receiver with 32 grabs and four touchdowns. DJ Williams is another D1 prospect and he has 23 catches for 341 yards.
Denham Springs defense is allowing 22 points a game. Linebacker Kaleb Pipes had two sacks in last week’s win over Central. Earlier this season, inside linebacker Brennan Leblanc had a school record seven sacks and forced three fumbles in a 38-6 win over Live Oak earlier this season.
The Yellow Jackets will try to stop a Scotlandville offense averaging 37 points a game. Cameron Armstead has replaced Levi Lewis at quarterback. Lewis is redshirting at UL-Lafayette, while Armstead has helped the Hornets achieve a 7-1 record.
The junior has thrown for 1,210 yards and 10 touchdowns. His favorite target is Vernon Powell, who can create separation from the defender and take it to the house if he gets his hands on it. Powell has 29 grabs for 535 yards and 11 TDs.
Senior Trenton Charles leads the ground game. Charles played with nagging injuries last season, but he’s healthy this year and has 967 yards rushing for 10 touchdowns. He’s also a very smart with a 29 on the ACT and plans to attend Yale.
Scotlandville’s defense features one of the top defensive backs in the country. Kelvin Joseph has the likes of LSU, Alabama, Clemson and Florida State trying to get his signed letter of intent. Joseph will also play in the US Army All-American Bowl in January.
The defensive line features 335-pound junior Williams Myles, who has started since his freshman season. Middle linebacker Jimyon Profit is another returning starter from last season’s state runner-up team.
Our coverage begins at 6:30 pm with the Louisiana Farm Bureau Insurance Companies countdown to GameTime and then kick-off at 7:00.
