It was Senior recognition night for the Centennial Coyotes as they took to the field Friday night in Peoria, AZ. The 9-0 Coyotes faced off against 7-2 Sunrise Mountain Mustangs and up for grabs was the Northwest Region title.
Centennial led by Junior QB #8 Jonathan Morris, got things rolling in the first quarter and never seemed to let off the gas. At the end of one, it was Centennial on top 27-0. Sunrise Mountain’s QB #10 Keegan Freid tried to spur his offense on with pass attempts as well as taking off and making a run for it, but Centennial’s defense wrangled the Mustangs attempts to turn plays into points. At the half, it was 41-0.
Penalties tripped up the Coyotes and likely held down some of the scoring attempts. In the 3rd quarter, an injured player would stop the game clock, but when the game resumed Centennial scored.
A fast clock in the fourth and the Centennial defense proving too much for the Mustangs. Final score Centennial 48, Sunrise Mountain 0. Centennial’s record advances to 10-0 and Sunrise Mountain sits at 7-3 going into playoffs.
