From the 2019 Jamboree, August 30, 2019 as St. Martinsville takes on St. Thomas More.
The final contest of the night proved to be about one thing. Defense! St. Thomas More came into the contest hoping to duplicate last season’s record-breaking offensive performance in the Division II championships. Led by the reigning Class 4A MVP and Harvard commit, Caleb Holstein, the cougars managed to put up 19 points in this abbreviated jamboree format.
Offensively, the St. Martinville Tigers struggled to get anything going on the night, and failed to put points on the board in this contest. The Tigers moved inside Cougar territory on two of their four offensive series, but both ended in turnovers. Defensively, the Tigers showed that defense is where they will hang their hats this season. Fortunately for the St. Martinville, they won’t face many teams as talented as St. Thomas More this season.
