There go those Runnin’ Rams again.
After finishing the nonconference portion of their schedule with a win over Florida Gulf Coast, the URI Rams continued to play well, dominating George Mason from start to finish to win their Atlantic 10 opener 83-64.
In a game of runs, Rhody scored the first 11 points, and had a 16-4 lead after the first 3:40 of action.

Mason made a mini run to cut the lead to five, but URI quickly answered and the lead was back to ten by the 10:30 mark in the first half. The Patriots never got within double-digits again.
A few minutes later, the Runnin’ Rams showed out, as E.C. Matthews hit Jared Terrell for an alley-oop to extend the lead to 18 during a 13-0 run. The rout was on, as Dan Hurley’s team went to the locker room with a 44-26 lead at the half.

The second half brought more of the same. Rhode Island kept running the break, and Matthews caught an oop of his own, this dime coming from Jarvis Garrett as they grew their lead to 25 and eventually 30-plus.
