The Destrehan Wildcats remain undefeated after Friday night’s 5A District 7 matchup against the Thibodaux Tigers.
A methodical offensive performance by Destrehan was only marred by a couple of dropped passes. The Wildcats entered this season with a new starting quarterback and four new starters on the offensive line, but everything seemed to be clicking for them as they put up 20 points in the first quarter.
Sophomore QB Jai Eugene Jr. turned in an excellent performance, connecting with Leslie Jefferson and Calvin Bullock through the air.
Senior RB Razan Keller combined strength, speed and agility to punch in three separate scores for the Wildcats. Coaches compare him to Jerome Bettis, but his moves in this game were anything but bus-like.
The Tigers missed a scoring opportunity just before halftime when a Luke Alleman pass to Brayson Rodrigue was marked down just short of the end zone.
Thibodaux defense played hard in this losing effort, reaching its peak in the third quarter. The Tigers came up with a fumble and blocked a Wildcat field goal in an attempt to get back into the game, but it was not to be.

In the end, it was defense that got it done for the Wildcats who remain undefeated with the win over Thibodaux 33-7. Destrehan rises to 5-1.
