Thursday brings another critical high school football matchup to Yurview, as Walker will take on Live Oak. The game can be seen on October 26th at 6:30pm CT on Yurview Louisiana for customers of Cox Communications and will also be streamed live on Yurview.com.
What’s at Stake?
For the Wildcats, they’re looking to host a playoff game in District 4A. A loss against Live Oak will greatly diminish those chances, as they’re 5-2 on the season, 2-2 in district play. Still, they’re in a better position than the Eagles, after coming off a big 27-0 win over Denham Springs.

Live Oak has hosted playoff games the last two seasons, but needs a win vs Walker to keep their 5A playoff hopes in tact this season. They are 3-5 overall and only 1-4 in District play, losing five straight before they shutout Belaire 30-0 last week. The Eagles have history on their side, as they’ve topped Walker in each of their last five matchups.
The Third Phase
Both teams are excellent on special teams, and it’s no wonder, as they have the talent and dedication to make it a major advantage on a weekly basis.

And it’s not just the return game that can turn a game…although Walker’s Darius Hampton has returned punts and a kickoffs for touchdowns this season. Both teams can force their opponents into a long field, as Caleb Wall can boot it for the Wildcats and Live Oak’s Nathan Holliday is averaging 35 yards per punt.
Players to Watch
RB Tristan Taylor – Walker
He’s big, so when he gets the rock, he’s tough to take down. Especially, near the goal line…he’s got six touchdowns.
RB Kee Hawkins – Live Oak
The sophomore is coming off a two touchdown game, giving him five on the season, to go along with nearly 600 rushing yards.
QB Sal Palermo – Live Oak
Always a threat with his legs, he has nine rushing touchdowns and two passing scores.
S Calvin Watson – Walker
Six interceptions is a pretty good indication that the free safety can read a quarterback.
