How They Got Here
In the First Round, Creighton Prep squeaked by Grand Island 20-17. The Junior Jays advanced in thrilling fashion too, as Noah Strako drilled the game winning field goal from 40 yards with 34 seconds left in the game. The Junior Jays trailed by 7 with under eight minutes to go before mounting their comeback.

The Thunderbirds had a little more breathing room in their First Round game, as they topped Lincoln Southwest 41-21, but it certainly wasn’t easy. Bellevue West outscored their opponent 14-0 in both the second and fourth quarters, killing any chances that Lincoln Southwest could pull out a victory.

Keep on Running
Both teams rely on strong running games, and both teams used that strength to advance to the Quarterfinals. Bellevue West rode their feature back, Jeyvon Ducker, to 225 yards and three touchdowns. Creighton Prep used the combination of Luke Sims and Elisha Burts to the tune of 204 yards and a score, while also getting a well designed rushing score from QB Reid Burke.

Players to Watch
LB Dakota McInnis – Bellevue West
Spearheaded the Thunderbirds’ defensive attack against Lincoln Southwest with three sacks.
RB Luke Sims – Creighton Prep
He led the Junior Jays with 123 yards rushing in the semifinal, and they’ll need that type of effort again to keep Bellevue West’s offense off the field.
WR Zavier Betts – Bellevue West
The Class of 2020 product was just offered a scholarship by Nebraska.
OL AJ Forbes – Bellevue West
He protects QB Joe Dolincheck and opens holes for Ducker.
K Noah Strako – Creighton Prep
With field goals of 34 and 40 yards, he’s a weapon worth watching to get the Junior Jays points if their drives stall in Bellevue West territory.
