It was a matchup of teams that were undefeated in 6A Division I District 1. The Broken Arrow Tigers were 2-0 in district and 4-1 overall. The Westmoore Jaguars were 2-0 overall with a 5-0 record.
Broken Arrow scored first just two and a half minutes into the game. Jake Raines connected with Keyon Barnett who rambled 42 yards for the touchdown. BA had a 6-0 lead after their conversion attempt failed. On the next possession a bad snap by Westmoore was recovered by Borken Arrow’s Darryan Moss. A few plays later Sanchez Banks carried the ball into the end zone from 2 yards out. The Tiger lead grew to 13-0.
In the second quarter Broken Arrow’s Mykal Matthews had a nice 18 yard touchdown run to put the Tigers up 20-0. On Westmoore’s next possession Jaguar quarterback Dayton Wolfe found Colby Phillips who turned the corner and took the pass 85 yards for a score. The conversion was good and the score was 20-7, Broken Arrow. Then with just six seconds left in the half it was Sanchez Banks again. This time he ran for 6 yards. Broken Arrow’s halftime lead was 27-7.
In the third quarter Broken Arrow got two 8 yard touchdowns from Banks and a safety that saw the Tiger lead grow to 43-7. Then in the fourth Westmoore got a 49 yard touchdown from Andrew Metcalfe to make the score 43-14. A 27 yard field goal by Tyler Crawford, a safety and a late tiger touchdown by Julian Mosley made the final score Broken Arrow 55, Westmoore 14.
Sanchez Banks carried the ball 30 times for 193 yards and four touchdown and Mykal Matthews rushed 15 times for 168 yards as Broken Arrow dominated on the ground. Broken Arrow’s record is now 3-0 in district and 5-1 overall. Westmoore takes its first loss and falls to 2-1 in district and 5-1 overall.
