The Midwest City Bombers and the Putnam City North Panthers met at Panther Stadium in Oklahoma City Friday night. Both teams came into the game undefeated in 6A II, District 1.
The Bombers played dominating defense to take control early. After forcing PC North into a three and out, the Panthers’ punt seemed to die in the wind and Midwest City was in business at the PC North’s 28.
Bomber quarterback DeAngelo Irvin, Jr. rolled left on a third down play, offered a pump fake and went 22 yards untouched for the touchdown and Midwest City had the early 7 to nothing lead. On Midwest City’s next possession it was Irvin again, this time through the air. He found Brian Wilson, Jr. at about midfield and Wilson took it the rest of the way for a 75-yard touchdown play. A missed extra point made the score 13-0.
In the second quarter, PC North made their own break. Putnam City North’s David Bruce pressured the Midwest City punter, and may have blocked it. After a wild scramble Haydn Thornton covered the ball at the Midwest City 1. On the next play Amaurion Norment ran right up the middle to get the touchdown.
The Bombers responded on the ensuing kickoff with Makale Smith showing why he’s headed to Oklahoma State. He fielded the ball at his own 7 and rambled 93 yards for a touchdown. Putnam City North blocked the extra point and Midwest City led 19 to 7, at the half.

In the third quarter, Midwest City put together a drive that led to a 22 yard touchdown pass to Makale Smith. On the two point conversion attempt Kristawn Friday pitched the ball to Brian Wilson who threw to DeAngelo Irvin in the end zone. The Bomber lead was 27 to 7 after three quarters.
In the fourth quarter DeAngelo Irvin scored again on a 19 yard read option play. Camarian Smiley got the two point conversion on a run to the corner of the end zone and Midwest City led 35 to 7. On the kickoff, Putnam City North’s Kishaun Denton who had several nice returns on the night, took the ball at the 18 and raced 82 yards to the endzone. That made the final score Midwest City 35, Putnam City North 14.
