The Aztecs defense shut out the Toros offense Friday night to remain undefeated in the regular season for the first time in school history.
Corona del Sol also clinched their spot in the Open Division playoffs, AZPreps 365 announced Saturday morning.
Both Anyale Velasquez and Quade Swearingen were getting it done on the ground for the Aztecs. Velasquez was a big contributor in this game rushing 24 times for 94 yards.

The Toros did capitalize on a Corona del Sol mistake, with Matthew Clark delivering a huge interception return for a Mountain View touchdown. By the half, the Toros were only down by seven points.

In the Play of the Game, Elijah Sayers jumped higher than anyone that big has a right to, catching a high pop-up throw by Zac Majorczak in the end zone. That throw likely had to do with a timely hit by Tudor Georgescu.
Sayers’ effort represented the excellent defensive work the Aztecs did in the game, especially in the second half in which they held Mountain View scoreless.
Corona del Sol will remain undefeated in the regular season, and moves on to face Hamilton in Round One of the Open Division Playoffs.
