Patricia’s tires were looking a little sad to her, so she went to visit our friends at the AAA Car Care Center to get her car checked out!
When it comes to tires, there are a few things that need to be in order. First, you have to have the correct amount of air pressure in your tires. Then you should check your tread.
Your tread is what ensures you have good traction while you’re driving down the road!
Maintenance on the tires includes getting them rotated, and also getting regular alignments.
Kyle Loftus is the General Manager of AAA Car Care Centers. He told Patricia an easy way to check her tire tread!
Grab a penny and look at the side with President Lincoln on it. Turn the penny upside down, and insert into your tire tread. If you can’t see the top of Lincoln’s head, you don’t need new tires yet. If you can see the top of his head, it’s time!
Some good tips for regular maintenance on your vehicle include:
- Rotate your tires every 5,000 miles
- Have the air pressure in your tires measured about once per month (They do this for free at AAA Car Care Centers!)
