Karen is changing things up and letting someone else do the cooking! She is having a blast checking out fabulous dining options in the Hampton Roads area.
In this segment of Cooking From the Heart -Dining Out, Karen visits the Vanguard Brewpub and Distillery in downtown Hampton, VA.
Known not only for their amazing house crafted beer and spirits, the Vanguard is also famous for it’s fantastic, chef-created menu items.
Their delectable edibles are not only inspired by their brewpub and distillery, but some of their recipes actually include their beer or spirits. This makes for perfect food and beverage combos.
Karen chats with Chef John who has brought her a delicious food and drink pairing to try.
First up is the Gyro flatbread. This light, crispy flat bread is loaded with all of the flavors of Greece and the Mediterranean including fresh tomatoes, pepperoncini, red onions, tzatziki, feta and gyro meat.
Laden with healthy veggies, this flatbread will fill you up, but it won’t weigh you down.
And what could go better with a light fresh lunch than a light fresh tasting beer. Karen samples the Vanguard’s very own, gold medal winning Kolsch style ale.Â
Also known as their House Beer, this easy drinking ale has just the right combination of malt flavor and floral aromas. Â It goes down easily with any meal, but makes a perfect pairing with the Gyro Flatbread.
