We love taking every chance we can to showcase local organizations that are making things better and safer for animals. But what about outside of our area? Island Dog Rescue is changing the trajectory of animal welfare in Caribbean communities, one dog at a time.
Sally Gear from Island Dog Rescue joined the Living 757 crew and brought FOUR of the cutest pups we have ever seen!
She may be the founder and CEO of the organization, but Sally is quick to point out that Island Dog Rescue is all volunteers, and it is very much a team effort.
Sally says she grew up in the Caribbean, and she witnessed for years the neglect and abuse of animals in her community. After a few natural disasters in the Caribbean, Island Dog Rescue ramped up and grew significantly to help more pups in the islands!
This rescue is different than lots of others, because they take dogs in need out of Caribbean communities. Then they fly them to the USA for treatment, fosters, and eventually their fur-ever families!
Watch the full video to find out how to volunteer, and also how to apply to be a foster or to adopt a dog!
