October is Pedestrian Safety Month, and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles has done it again with one of their brilliant public service announcements!
This time, the PSA features a momma duck and her duckling- as pedestrians crossing a road. As ducks are very cute, usually cars will usually stop for a family of ducks crossing the road! But would they stop for you?
Pedestrian Safety is a two way street, and Jillian Cowherd from the DMV stopped by Living 757 virtually to help educate us on how to keep pedestrians safe!
Pedestrian Safety Month is a great time to raise awareness about all of the things that can be done to protect pedestrians from moving vehicles!
The responsibility doesn’t solely rest on drivers to keep pedestrians safe, though. When you are a pedestrian, there are some things you can do to help protect yourself:
- Be aware of your surroundings
- Use crosswalks
- Make sure you are visible
- Use a flashlight or reflective clothing at night
On the drivers side: pay attention, be alert and aware, and do not drive distracted or intoxicated.
