Laws and regulations are always changing, so it’s important to have a professional that you trust to help guide you along the way.
Lucky for us, we have friend of the show Attorney Nick Woodhouse from Huffman & Huffman to help teach us about the new laws that passed recently.
It used to be that if you didn’t have auto insurance, you could pay a $500 fee to the DMV to register your vehicle and then be on your way.
Now, the laws have changed and you have to show proof of insurance to the DMV in order to register the vehicle.
If you aren’t compliant with the new laws, you are subject to lots of unpleasantries. Your license can be suspended, you have to pay a reinstatement fee of $600.
You’ll also have to get new license plates and re-register your car.
The insurance requirements are also changing on January 1, 2025. The minimum limits per person are $50,000 and $100,000 per vehicle.
Huffman & Huffman recommends $100,000 per person and $300,000 per vehicle for medical costs.
