When disaster strikes, sometimes it’s difficult to figure out where to even start to try and put the pieces of your life back together.
Luckily for us, locally in Hampton Roads we have a fantastic restoration company to guide us when a disaster happens. The team at Jenkins Restorations visited us in studio to talk about what to do when the unthinkable happens.
One tip that might not be something that is immediately obvious- is pre-planning before a natural disaster happens. This means, look up restoration companies near you- and save their information just in case.
Hurricane Helene Aftermath
The Jenkins Restorations family has been hard at work helping our neighbors in Western Virginia and North Carolina who were devastated by Hurricane Helene.
But now that hurricane season is pretty much over, what kind of hardships can we prevent?
Fire Safety Tips
Steve from Jenkins Restorations says that the holidays are the time of year when they see an uptick in house fires.
The candles, Christmas trees, lights, and decor all lend themselves to easy accidents. Steve said his number one tip is to not leave candles lit in any rooms that aren’t really occupied. If a candle is left alone and something goes wrong, it’s a bad day.
Another problem can be the cinders and ashes from fireplaces. When you take them outside, be sure to check that they are 100% extinguished!
