Halloween is officially here and our friends at Huffman & Huffman visited the studio with several of their adorable trick or treaters! This time, they are visiting to talk about pedestrian safety on the most spooky night of the year.
First off, Attorney Katy Green offers some tips to help keep you and your family safe while successfully collecting candy this year. She says to always stay on sidewalks whenever it is possible. If you do have to walk in the road, make sure you are walking TOWARD oncoming traffic. Also be sure to use crosswalks where they are available.
If visibility is low, make sure kids wear glow sticks or carry flash lights so that drivers can see them- even if they are wearing a dark costume!
Parents should also make sure that they aren’t distracted during trick or treating! Put the cellphones away while walking from house to house.
On the flip side, drivers can most definitely do a few things to try and help keep pedestrians safe on Halloween. If you’re driving in or around a neighborhood, make sure you slow down. Be aware and do not drive distracted. Try and anticipate kids running in the streets!
Finally, make sure you are enjoying Halloween responsibly! Have a designated driver or call a ride share service if you partake in any alcoholic beverages.
