Every year, drivers make bad decisions on our roadways, which can result in horrific car crashes.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ Local Hero Series is back again, and it features real statewide first responders- who are in the act of responding to a car crash.
The campaign delivers a powerful message about the majority of deadly crashes being preventable, if people would just buckle up, slow down and drive sober.
On this episode of Living 757, Patricia and Ashley are joined by three local Emergency Medical Technicians, also known as “EMTs.”
Their job is to be the first ones on scene after a 911 call is made during an emergency.
For them, drivers using caution and paying attention is a huge deal. They see first hand what happens when people aren’t abiding by the laws and driving safely.
As EMTs, they see everything on scene of terrible car crashes. The good, the bad, the ugly- they see it all.
But what if we take a step back from crashes for a moment, and focus on what happens in crashes where everyone was wearing a seat belt.
Our EMT friends told Patricia and Ashley that is happens “ALL THE TIME” where they show up to the scene of a crash thinking it’s going to be really bad, and everyone is totally fine- because they were wearing their seatbelts!
Make the good decision, and buckle up before you hit the road.
