We’ve learned that we spend WAY TOO MUCH TIME sitting in our vehicles while waiting in traffic! So it is more important now than ever that we make sure to wear our seatbelts.
Friend of the show John Saunders from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles dropped in virtually to tell us more.
John said it is incredibly important to buckle up, even when we are sitting in traffic! Any time you are in your vehicle, your seatbelt should be on correctly.
In the year 2022 alone, over 15,000 lives were saved by buckling up and utilizing seatbelts correctly.
An unbuckled passenger is obviously a danger to themself, they are also a danger to everyone else in the vehicle. This is because an unbuckled person can become a projectile if a crash occurs. This is true even when it comes to anyone riding in the back seat.
One of the biggest mistakes that anyone in a motor vehicle can make is not wearing a seatbelt because their trip will be a short one. No trip is short enough that a seatbelt isn’t necessary, so make sure to buckle up!
As a driver, it’s important to enforce that the vehicle won’t move until everyone is secured in their seatbelts!
