Safe Driving Is Something We Can ALL Live With
The Department of Motor Vehicles, better known as the DMV, has launched a new initiative- to reduce or eliminate fatal car accidents.
John Saunders, the Director of the Highway Safety Office for the DMV, joined the Living 757 crew to explain more about the new campaign.
Who is the campaign for?
The new campaign is geared toward, is men between the ages of 29 and 39. This is because males between these ages are more susceptible to engaging in the risky behaviors that the DMV is trying to help eliminate.
Although the new commercials may be funny at first glance, the message behind them is serious. The DMV wants to ensure that you have the best possible chance at surviving a motor vehicle accident.
What are the most common factors in car accidents?
-speed
-unrestrained
-impaired driving
-distracted driving
Leave your seatbelt on for the duration of your ride
One common mistake both drivers and passengers make, is taking their seatbelt off before they have reached their destination. Data shows that a significant amount of car accidents happen close to someone’s home! It is extremely important to leave your seatbelt fastened until the car is in park.
The vehicle is built to protect us. Cars do the best job at keeping us safe when we are buckled in!
Going the speed limit is also important- the speed limit is set for a purpose: keeping you safe!
