Defiance 1636: Cheering On Our Soccer Boys
As the Rhode Island FC pulls into the home stretch of its first soccer season, it seems Ocean Staters have truly adopted their new pro soccer team. “Locally New England” has certainly become an avid fan. We recently brought a camera to a game to meet one special group who has quickly become the heart and soul of the fan base: Defiance 1636.
Defiance 1636 is more than supportive. Passionate may be a closer description. At every game, this fun loving and dedicated group can be found behind the goal with their hearts on their sleeves. Smoke, chants, flags and flairs; you name it, they’ve got it; all in the name of both pushing the Rhode Island FC to a win and growing local soccer.
Defiance Board Member Chris Perras encourages everyone to look into becoming a member of Defiance 1636 and supporting the soccer team. “I love the game. I love the people. Everyone’s welcome. Everyone’s loved. It feels like a giant family.”
Floor & Décor: Putting Your Floor Design Plans on Solid Ground
Looking for that just perfect floor to replace the old pet scratched hardwood? Warwick’s “Floor & Décor,” is ready to lend a hand. Hard surface flooring is their focus with designers and specialists who can help find the perfect look to match your décor.
Floor & Décor is a specialty retail store, unlike the typical big box warehouse stores customers may have become used to. Customers are greeted as they enter and are able to engage in a little one on one time with a staff member regarding their project.
New customers may also not be accustomed to a store having almost everything currently available. There is a million square feet of flooring in stock at all times with approximately 18 aisles of deco tile alone and 30 aisles of hardwood, laminate and engineered materials.
In other words, whether you have a flooring in mind or could use some ideas, “Floor & Décor,” is where you need to be.”
Comprehensive Community Action Program: Keep Your Kids Healthy This Winter.
Among the many essential resources that the Comprehensive Community Action Program, or CCAP, provides for children and families are health services. With kids back in school and cold and flu season knocking on the door, a slew of potentially serious winter illnesses is not far off.
Of course, one of the primary ways to avoid your child or teen becoming ill is through vaccines. “Vaccines are important because they can lower your chance of getting sick and can lower your chance of spreading certain diseases,” according to Jason Villa, CCAP Assistant Medical Director. CCAP has provided “Locally New England” with a clear-eyed view of vaccines and the help they offer. Tune in to “Locally New England” for a complete picture of why your child should be vaccinated.
Empire Hyundai: Meet the Local Family Whose New Car Dealership is State of the Art:
Last show, we discussed the brand-new Empire Hyundai dealership in Fall River. This time it’s a road trip down to meet the Torres family and do some exploring at their new multi-million-dollar renovated business home.
All four Torres family auto dealerships are located in Massachusetts’ SouthCoast area. Dealer Principal, Rick Torres, who has been in the auto business for 41 years believes “it is very important for us to remain in the SouthCoast area because (it’s) where our family has been all our lives.” Certainly, these deep roots and connections came into consideration in the decision to remodel the entire Fall River dealership.
Trevor Torres, General Manager of Empire Hyundai certainly speaks for the entire family when he says, “We’re proud of what we have done here at Empire Hyundai with the facility update. It’s for you, to make sure your experience is out of this world.”
