The Eagle has landed! We’re going back to the Moon!
NASA is planning a mission to return to the Moon in 2024! 55 years after Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and the Apollo 11 mission made the first manned landing on the Moon on July 20th, 1969.
Having not been to the Moon since 1972, NASA is now on track to put astronauts on the moon by 2024. NASA is implementing the President’s Space Policy Directive-1 which calls for NASA “to lead an innovative and sustainable program of exploration with commercial and international partners to enable human expansion across the solar system and to bring back to Earth new knowledge and opportunities.”
The foundation is being laid that will eventually allow human exploration of Mars and beyond! The current timeline anticipates NASA getting to Mars in the 2030’s.
