Friday night brings another marquee high school football matchup to Yurview Arizona, as Perry takes on Chandler on Friday October 6th at 7:00pm MST. The Pumas are the top-ranked team in the state with their 6-0 record, while Chandler is 4-2 with one of their losses coming to IMG Academy, the #2 team in the nation. The game can be seen on Yurview Arizona for customers of Cox Communications, and will be streamed live on Yurview.com.
With Heavy Hearts
On Monday, Perry announced the passing of Brayden Mason, a Junior Varsity player for the Pumas.

Some things are bigger than football. Sports can help heal communities dealing with tragedy in many instances, when rivals and opponents can recognize that it’s only a game.

Offense Sells Tickets…and Wins Games
No wonder Perry is undefeated. They’re averaging a ridiculous 59 points per game, with their lowest output being 49 points in their opener against Desert Vista. While their defense is no slouch, only giving up 30 points or more once on the season, it’s tough for opponents to keep up with their scoring pace. This game may test that theory, as Chandler has averaged over 46 points per game in their four wins. Can the Wolves keep scoring with Perry? If this game becomes a shootout, who gets that big stop on defense late in the game? History is on Chandler’s side, as they’ve won the five previous matchups and handed the Pumas their only two losses a season ago.
Different QB Situations
Perry is led by dual-threat Brock Purdy. He’s thrown for 24 touchdowns and ran for three more so far this season. Completing nearly 70% of his passes, he’s racked up 1700 yards through the air while rushing for more than 400 yards. He keeps the scoreboard operators busy.

On the other side, Chandler also has a stud quarterback. The problem is, Jacob Conover got hurt against IMG in August and hasn’t played since. He has big-time scholarship offers, including Alabama. While senior Billy Bolger has played well, losing that type of player will set any team back, and they missed Conover while scoring 21 points in their most recent loss.
Players to Watch
WR DeShayne James – Perry
He’s a big target on the outside for Purdy, and he’s already scored 7 touchdowns this year. Also, look out for him in the wildcat formation.
WR Tre Hart – Chandler
A weapon on the outside, Hart has been getting plenty of recognition this season.

WR Gunner Romney – Chandler
The BYU commit has missed a few games with an ankle injury, but will likely be a key cog if the Wolves are to keep up with Perry.
DE Jobiin Sweat and Harley Scott – Perry
The often overlooked defense of Perry is led by these two D ends, who have combined for 12 sacks on the season.
RB Drake Anderson – Chandler
After having hip surgeries the last couple of seasons, he’s flashed his talent throughout this season. He runs for nearly nine yards per carry, and has already hit paydirt 13 times in 2017.
