These Teams Have a History
Thursday’s Class A showdown could be an early indication of how District 3 will take shape. Creighton Prep is Nebraska’s winningest program, while Millard North coach Fred Petito has taken his team to the state championship game in eight of the last 14 seasons. The two teams split a pair of meetings last season, with Millard North taking a 17-12 regular season win before the Jays got their revenge in the 2016 state quarterfinals with a 35-21 win. Creighton Prep came out ahead 35-21, after losing to Millard North in the regular season, 17-12.

One at a New Place, One a Familiar Face
While the returning players may remember last season’s matchups, one coach is new to the rivalry. Tim Johnk is in his first season at Creighton Prep after spending a decade-plus in Class B. Across the sidelines, Petito might recall numerous Millard North/Creighton Prep matchups – he’s in his 33rd season.
Players to Watch
QB Cade Elwood – Millard North
The Senior brings a veteran presence to the game’s most important position…and production. He tied the Class A state record last week when he ran for seven – SEVEN – touchdowns.
