The sport of football has always been a, “What have you done for me lately?” business. As of late, Ammon Allen has done any and everything for the Highland Hawks.
What can’t Allen do? He can catch touchdowns, get interceptions, make big hits, and throw a Javelin further than any student walking on campus. The 3-star recruit not only gets it done on the football field, but also on the track in track & field. Allen competes in both the 100 and 200-meter hurdles and is the only Hawks athlete to throw javelin with a best of 164’ 44’’, where he holds the school record.
Allen produces in many capacities for Highland. “I would say I’m an athlete. It is more of a blessing on my part. I love to help the team win.” Allen juggles different positions weekly He’s taken snaps at Strong Safety, Free Safety, Wide Receiver, Punt Returner, Kick Returner, and the Up man on the punt team. In two years, Allen has received player of the game honors ten times. Recording 90 tackles and 50 solos with five interceptions, Ammon is the Hawks’ Swiss Army Knife. Racking up nine scholarships offers from universities such as Idaho, New Mexico State, and Eastern Michigan. The captain of the defense still has his eyes set on finishing this season strong.

With an overall record of (4-2), the Highland Hawks look to put the #5 ranked Chandler Wolves (5-0) on upset alert this Friday. “Our defense needs to come out, hitting hard. It’s eleven as one. We have to all run to the ball. This season and everything has brought us closer together.” Knowing that defense is the side of the ball, he will be playing this Friday, and on future Saturdays, it is intuitive that Pick 6 is a reoccurring event for him. Pick 6 is also a great way to get to learn new things about a person. It gives them two choices and allows the subject to pick their preferences.
Ammon’s Pick 6:
- Phone call or Text = Phone call
- Gloves or Bare hands = Bare hands
- Dine-in or Take out = Dine-in
- Hot dog or Hamburger = Hot Dog
- Gatorade or Powerade = Powerade
- Netflix or YouTube = YouTube
You can catch Mr. Do-It-All and the Highland Hawks this Friday, November 13th, vs. the Chandler Wolves on Yurview GameTime. YurView is on Channel 4 in Phoenix and Channel 7 in Tucson.
