Friday night at 7:00pm brings Yurview New England’s first high school football matchup, pitting rivals La Salle and Bishop Hendricken against each other. The Rams (1-1) travel to Hendricken (0-1) to take on the Hawks on their new field. Kickoff is 7:00pm ET on September 15th and the game will be broadcast live on YurView New England for customers of Cox Communications. It will also stream live on YurView.com.
Competitive Spirit
These teams put on a show, and many times it determines the state championship. Seemingly every season these teams cross paths in the playoffs, but Hendricken (7 straight championships) has had a stranglehold of those matchups of late. This year, La Salle is considered by many to be the favorite. Regardless, the regular season matchup will be played with no less intensity than a December matchup would be.
Should be a great atmosphere Friday night. There is no rivalry like it in the state.https://t.co/D7q4UHFjYR

Early Season Matchup a Wildcard?
While La Salle is 1-0 in league play, having defeated Cranston West, Keith Croft’s Hawks haven’t played in Rhode Island yet. Both teams played New York teams for tune ups, but it will be interesting to see how the early part of the game goes, with little 2017 game tape for either side to work with. Complicating matters for La Salle, Hendricken graduated a host of key contributors, but no Ram is sorry that Kwity Paye now plays for the University of Michigan.
Players to Watch
RB Leroy Deoliveira – La Salle
If you’re first team all-state after a junior season rushing for 1,200 yards and ten touchdowns, and you’re back for your senior season, you make this list.
LB Rondie Almeida – Bishop Hendricken
Hendricken’s leading returning tackler will look to meet Deoliveira in the hole consistently and ground the La Salle running game. With defense always a strong suit of the Hawks, we’ll find out if that’s still the case.
QB Andrew Wright – La Salle
After fracturing his collarbone on an early 60 yard run in the Super Bowl last season, he’ll undoubtedly want to get another crack at Hendricken for the first time since he left the field with the Rams leading 6-0 in December.
