As is the tradition in Louisiana, Southern Lab will square off against Kentwood in the final week of the regular season.
The game will be broadcast at 7:00pm CDT live on YurView Louisiana for Cox Communications customers and will also stream live on Yurview.com.
Week 10 Showdown
These two programs are usually contending for state championships, but this season’s meeting is particularly special, as both teams come into the week at 8-1.
Southern Lab has worn down opponents all season and hasn’t lost since Sept. 7. During its seven-game winning streak, Southern Lab has averaged nearly 40 points per game. Last week, they shut out White Castle on the road, 61-0.
Last Friday couldn’t have gone much different for Kentwood. Entering Week 9 undefeated, Kentwood suffered its first loss of the year, 12-7, to Ascension Catholic.
By the looks of it, Kentwood may have already been looking ahead to its matchup with Southern Lab before the loss. Regardless, Kentwood’s defense is just the unit that could slow down the Southern Lab attack. Kentwood has yielded about 10.7 points per game this season.
Players to Watch
G Kardell Thomas – Southern Lab
This matchup is filled with talent, but when it comes to the 2019 college recruit rankings, no one is more highly regarded than Thomas. As a 5-star prospect, 247Sports ranks him the No. 4 2019 Louisiana recruit and top offensive lineman in the state.
Thomas reportedly received more than 15 offers from Power 5 schools. He committed to LSU in July 2016.

WR Trey Palmer – Kentwood
Standing at 6-feet tall and 179 pounds, Palmer is the top Louisiana wideouts in the 2019 class. He is also the No. 5 player in the state according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Palmer and Thomas will be enemies Friday night in this matchup, but they’ll be teammates in college. He committed to LSU in August.

RB Tyrion Davis – Southern Lab
That commitment choice is a theme in this one. Davis committed to LSU more than 16 months ago and chose the Tigers instead of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Florida.
As a 4-star commit, Davis is the No. 11 Louisiana prospect in the 2019 class. 247Sports ranks only one running back higher than him in the state.

WR Reginald Johnson – Southern Lab
While Palmer is the most talented receiver in this one, don’t forget about Johnson. He’s a playmaker in his own right and sits at No. 15 on the Louisiana 2019 top recruiting list.
He has received seven offers, including from Texas A&M, Tennessee, Oregon State, Louisiana Tech and Louisiana-Monroe.
In addition to those four, there are three other players in this game ranked inside the Top 50 Louisiana prospects in the 2019 class. All three of those other players are from Southern Lab — athlete Charvis Thornton, safety Kendaris Moses and guard Jacques Wallace.
