Two years ago, after a tight first half, Zachary pulled away in the 2nd half and easily defeated John Ehret 46-12 as Broncos quarterback Lindsey Scott accounted for five touchdowns.
Zachary (9-2) was the favorite to win that game and they are the favorites again as they enter this Friday’s contest as the 4-seed, while John Ehret (8-3) is the 13-seed.
In the 2015 matchup, the Patriots were known as the team with the best defense in the state. This time around, Zachary is the one with stellar defense as they are allowing just 9 points a game. In the last five games, the Broncos have given up just 13 points. They have not allowed more than a touchdown in a game since a 45-21 win over Walker on October 6th.

Zachary Head Coach David Brewerton, who is a big Hurricane fan, says his wife made the chain.
Ke’Shawn Sullivan was the first one to receive the turnover chain after recovering a fumble in last week’s 38-0 first round playoff victory over Mandeville.
Caleb Jackson and Ralph Holmes join Sullivan on the defensive line. The linebackers are tackling machines, Wes Brady and Maverick McClure.
The secondary is a veteran group that features John Burrell, Idarius Cummings and Tyler Judson.

Offensively, sophomore quarterback Keilon Brown leads the way. Brown has improved a lot and limited the turnovers since the Broncos last loss in week 5 versus University High.
Wide receiver Chandler Whitfield has had a breakout campaign, while RJ Allen has been leading the ground game lately.
Zachary’s offense will go up against a John Ehret defense that features several Division One prospects.
Inside linebacker Donte Sparks is a four-star recruit for the Class of 2019. Ranked as the 5th best player in the state of Louisiana according to 247 sports.

Outside linebacker Byron Jenkins is a three-star recruit and so is safety Isaiah Windmon.
In the last three games, John Ehret has only given up 19 points as their defense is starting to click.
Dual threat quarterback Travis Mumphrey has come into his own this season. He threw for 233 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s 46-13 playoff victory over Haughton. He’s listed as a three-star prospect.
His favorite receiver is Colorado State commitment Jammal Houston, who is healthy this season, after missing much of last year with a knee injury.
John Ehret also features a strong running game led by Terrell Brown who had nearly 200 yards rushing and three touchdowns last week against Haughton. He’s also had three touchdown performances this season against Chalmette and Destrehan.
West Monroe, Destrehan and Landry-Walker are the three teams John Ehret has lost too. All three teams can win the 5A title and so can the Patriots and Broncos.
