City of Chandler Black History Month Rooted in Faith Anchored in Hope
Throughout the month here on “Doing More”, we’ve been celebrating the numerous achievements and accomplishments of African Americans during Black History Month. So to say chatting with Ms. Glen LaVon Woods was a treat, is an understatement. As the current Board Vice-Chair for the South Chandler Self-Help Foundation, this wise and wonderful woman shared the rich African American history tied to Chandler, Arizona. Their annual event, Rooted in Faith, Anchored in Hope celebrates Black History Month.
Anthony Robinson the Biscuit Maker at Hardee’s Hometown Heroes
And speaking of hope and resilience, we also had the great pleasure of chatting with a ‘biscuit maker’ who puts love and heart into every single delicious biscuit he creates. Anthony “Tony” Robinson, a Virginia military veteran, makes over 700 biscuits every morning at Hardee’s Hometown Heroes. Way to go, Tony! We’re thankful to you for the love and passion you put into giving others joy through your delicious biscuits.
6th Annual Connect2STEM at University of Arizona Medical
Speaking of love of community, the University of Arizona in partnership with Cox Communications recently presented the 6th Annual Connect2STEM. It’s the largest STEM-related event held in Phoenix on the Phoenix Biomedical Campus. The Doing More team loves highlighting this annual event so we stopped by yet again to showcase all this family-friendly event has to offer!
24th Annual Cox Charities Golf Tournament Spa Day
Giving back and sharing good news stories is the heartbeat of this show. This next story is no exception. We stopped by the 24th Annual Cox Charities Golf Tournament Spa Day in Phoenix which raises funds to award grants to nonprofits throughout the state of Arizona. It truly is amazing to see the community come together to make a difference in the lives of so many!
