Watch Ruston vs. Acadiana (Louisiana) high school football – Friday, September 13, 2019.
In this Week 2 matchup, the Ruston Bearcats, from North Louisiana, traveled down I-49 to Lafayette, Louisiana, to take on the Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams, in Bill Dotson Stadium.
For the Acadiana Wreckin’ Rams, the story of this game was star Running Back, Dillan Monette. Monette, an Army Commit, led the Rams early in this contest finding the end zone twice in the first quarter. However, after what seemed to be a rolled ankle, the star running back found himself sidelined for the remainder of the night. In his place, came another Army Commit in Running Back, Jeremiah “Lucky” Brooks. Brooks, who is more than capable of making plays, took over where Monette left off, contributing to a 21-0 lead on a 21-yard scamper into the end zone in the 2ndquarter.
With:16 seconds remaining in the half, the Ruston Bearcats found pay dirt for the first time on a 1-yard run by Junior running back, Ketravion Hargrove.
In the 3rd quarter, the Ruston Bearcats found their identities and began to right the ship. With big plays and some Acadiana miscues, the Bearcats seemingly stole the momentum and silenced the hometown crowd. Early in the half, Ruston found the end zone on a 79-yard pass from Senior Quarterback, Jaden Procell, to the aforementioned Ketravion Hargrove. Later in the frame, the Bearcats took advantage of an Acadiana fumble, which was recovered and returned for a touchdown.
In the 4th quarter, both defenses managed to tighten the clamps in an attempt to bring home the victory. However, Acadiana, whose offense seemed stagnant in the second half, found the end zone one last time. With 1:47 remaining in the contest, Junior Running Back, Tyvin Zeno, scampered into the end zone from 2 yards out. With that touchdown, the Rams were able to claim the 28-20 victory over the Bearcats.
