Friar Fanatics hold on to your seats. An array of Providence College athletics is coming to your television during the 2017-18 academic year on YurView (Cox Channels 4 and 1004). The current schedule consists of 18 events spanning men’s and women’s soccer, field hockey, women’s basketball and women’s ice hockey.
YurView kicks off its coverage on Aug. 27 as the Providence women’s soccer team hosts Central Connecticut State University. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The women’s soccer team also will be featured on Yurview on three other occasions vs. St. Joseph’s on Sept. 15 at 10pm (tape delay), UMass Lowell (Sept. 17 @ 7pm) and St. John’s on Oct. 6 at 10pm (tape delay).
The 12th-ranked Providence men’s soccer team will be featured on YurView three times during the fall season, with two of the three matches showcasing the Friars against intra-state rivals Bryant on Sept. 4 at 7:00 p.m. and Brown on Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. YurView also will broadcast the men’s soccer match against regional foe Harvard on Sept. 9 at 7:00 p.m.
Fall sports coverage on YurView concludes on Oct. 13 at 10pm (tape delay) as the Providence field hockey team hosts BIG EAST rival Georgetown.
Women’s basketball tips off first in the YurView winter sports line-up as it plays host to Big Ten foe Penn State on Nov. 18. YurView also has picked up all four games of the Second Annual Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament scheduled for Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The Friars will host Brown at Noon to open the tournament on Dec. 2, followed by a match-up between Bryant and Rhode Island at 2:00 p.m. YurView will continue coverage of the tournament on Dec. 3, carrying broadcasts of the consolation game (Noon) and the championship game (2:00 p.m.). Women’s basketball coverage concludes with the Friars’ final non-conference game of the season on Dec. 21 vs. Boston College.
Women’s hockey will be featured on YurView beginning on Dec. 2 as the Friars host Hockey East foe Connecticut at Schneider Arena at 7:00 p.m. YurView’s coverage of the Friars continues with broadcasts of three more Hockey East showdowns vs. Boston University (Dec. 9), Boston College (Jan. 27) and Maine (Feb. 10).
