Strip General 2

While we have had a pretty mild winter, spring is here on the Ninth Island of Las Vegas. This is such a nice time to be outdoors during the day, since the average daily temperature is in the low to mid 70’s. Of course, that doesn’t mean the chilly temps of winter are behind us, nor does it mean that we won’t hit 80’s, as March is one of those months that can be unpredictable when it comes to weather. If you’re traveling to Vegas, we recommend that you stay up-to-date on the recent forecast and pack layers. You will definitely want to bring warmer clothes for the evenings, as the average nightly lows drop to mid-40’s to mid-50’s.

This is the perfect time to visit some outdoor attractions, like Dig This and Adrenaline Mountain. Dig This is located approximately twenty minutes from the Strip, near 7 Magic Mountains. As the world’s first “adult sandbox,” guests can operate bulldozers, excavators, and even crush cars. For more information, visit www.digthisvegas.com

Dig This

Adrenaline Mountain, located approximately 40 minutes from the Strip, offers a variety of activities across its 400 acres. Here, guests can choose one or more activities that include axe throwing, archery, driving a monster truck, firing a variety of gun types, shooting a flame thrower, blowing up a car, operating heavy machinery and even driving UTV’s or Jeep Wranglers. For more information visit their website www.adrenalinemountain.com

March is also the month where the seasonal pools begin to open. There really is no set opening date, as this just depends on the weather. Now, even if the pools are open, they may have shorter hours than the summer months, and they may not have all of the pool area open. If you’re looking to experience a pool day during your March visit, it’s best to check directly with the property you are staying at to see if their pool is open. In some cases, properties like Horseshoe, for example may not have their pool open, but will direct you to the pool next door at Paris.

March is typically the month where tourism starts to pick up, with events like March Madness and St. Patrick’s Day. Speaking of St. Patrick’s Day, Vegas does have a three-day long celebration down on Fremont Street. This will be held March 15-17. There will be live music, crowds and of course, green beer. On the Strip, you’ll find smaller celebrations at several of the Irish pubs and restaurants, like O’Shea’s in the LINQ Promenade. There’s also a three-day celebration on Water Street in Henderson that includes a carnival, a parade and a car show. This event is very popular with Las Vegas locals, as it is family-friendly and the fur babies are welcome. The Water Street District is also home to several great restaurants, bars, and breweries, along with three small casinos.
