Catch all the excitement and hard-hitting action of Major League Rugby (MLR) on YurView. MLR and Cox announced an exclusive distribution agreement with San Diego Legion during its 2018 inaugural season. Eight matches – five live and three rebroadcasts will be televised on YurView (Cox Channel 4/1004 HD in San Diego).
All five live matches will stream on yurview.com and at least one replay the week following the live telecast. YurView will tape delay and replay three Legion matches, which will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network as the MLR Game of the Week.
“We’re excited to be partnering with Cox,” said Matt Hawkins, San Diego Legion General Manager. “Sharing rugby with more people is a core focus of San Diego Legion. Our partnership with Cox makes this possible, while also providing the highest quality experience for everyone, especially the local rugby community. I’m thrilled all eight inaugural season games will soon air on YurView Channel 4 as we compete for the first MLR championship, taking place on July 7 here in San Diego.”
“Cox has a long history of producing and televising local professional, collegiate and high school sports in San Diego,” said Sam Attisha, Senior Vice President and Region Manager for Cox Communications in California. “Our YurView crew creates quality, award-winning programming, and we’re excited to help bring San Diego’s new professional sports team to the region.”
Major League Rugby will launch with seven teams in 2018 including Austin, Houston, Glendale (Colorado), New Orleans, San Diego, Seattle and Salt Lake City. New York joined as an associate member for 2018 and starts regular season play in 2019. Each market has a long history of support for the game of rugby. The members have strong local and civic-minded ownership groups with deep ties to their communities and have established grassroots programs, venues in place or in development, and a player pool featuring the best players in North America, reinforced by up to five international signings in the 15-player, Rugby Union format.
San Diego Legion home matches will be played at Torero Stadium in California. Live matches will be televised on YurView (Cox Channel 4/1004 HD in San Diego) and streaming on yurview.com. All game times are PDT. For more information, here’s a preview article from San Diego Union-Tribune.
