Queen Creek cruised past Mesa Mountain View 27-10.
The Queen Creek defense was a disruptive force all night, forcing five interceptions. Justin Prigge recorded one of the five interceptions.
Queen Creek scored all 27 of its points off turnovers and held Mesa Mountain View to just 62 rushing yards.
In his return to Mesa Mountain View, where he captured a state title in 1993, Queen Creek head coach Joe Germaine gave credit to his defense for the victory
“I’m so proud of the defense. We talked from the very beginning we wanted to strive to be a tough-minded, defensive team…” Germaine said. “They kept us in the game all night. I’m really proud of their effort.”
Queen Creek running back Dayson Coleman rushed for 111 yards on 19 carries. Queen Creek totaled 215 rushing yards.
Germaine said linebacker/quarterback Trey Reynolds had a gutsy effort.
The Play of the Game came on a 22-yard touchdown run by Queen Creek’s Payton Barlow.
