In a battle between two of Rhode Island’s top teams. Bishop Hendricken took their home opener against previously unseated North Kingstown on Friday 21-12.
On the Skippers first possession of the game, a blocked punt by Conner Safford resulted in the games first score as Shyne Fernandez ran back the block making it 7-0. Hendricken Quarterback Tom Comella had a big game for the Hawks as he ripped off a big ran on their second possession opening up a 14-0 lead.
Later in the first half North Kingstown would battle back to keep it close at 14-12.
The game remained tight for most of the way until another huge defensive effort from Hendricken. The Hawks sealed the deal as a strip sack and runback from Evan Renaldi made 21-12 with 2:28 to play.
The win bumped Bishop Hendricken’s record up to 2-1. The loss dropped North Kingstown’s record to 2-1.
