It was a river parish showdown between the Lutcher Bulldogs and the St. James Wildcats in the heart of St. James parish. It was a packed house as pre-game had tailgating, festivities and more! St. James celebrated its 1979 State Championship team.
St. James took the opening kickoff down into the red zone but settled for a FG.
At the 11:04 mark in the 2nd quarter the weather came in with a vengeance, pausing play for 60 minutes. After the delay Lutcher QB Mekhi Patterson takes it in from the 10 to go up 6-3. St James’ Sean Lebeouf runs it in for a score before the half to make it 10-6 St. James. Lutcher’s Alex Martinez gets an interception and brings it back to the red zone. Patterson takes it in from the 1 as Lutcher takes a 13-10 into halftime.
Lutcher poorly executes a punt to give St. James great position to kick a FG to get things all tied up at 13. St. James’ Shamar Smith scores to put the Wildcats on top 20-13.
Smith scores another TD to make it 27-13. Smith caps it off with another score as St. James defeats Lutcher 34-13.
