Watch a full game replay of La Salle Academy vs. Bishop Hendricken (Rhode Island) high school football – Friday, October 4th, 2019.
It was a rematch of last year’s state championship game and perhaps a preview of what’s to come as LaSalle visited Bishop Hendricken in West Warwick as the home team celebrated their 60th anniversary.
Temperatures dipping well into the low 50’s along with a stiff westerly wind didn’t dampen the spirits as strong fan support came out on both sides for this grudge match.
The Hawks struck first as QB Tom Comella found his twin brother Nick for a 20 yard pass over the middle setting up the game’s first score.
With 10 seconds to go in the 1st quarter, special teams would come up big as a blocked punt was picked by Angel Sanchez to help Hendricken open up a 21-0 lead.
With 7:33 to go in the first half, Comella would find Angel Sanchez in the corner of the end zone on a 13 yard toss to open it up to 28-0 Hawks.
But the Rams wouldn’t go away quietly as quarterback Nathan Lussier would find Michael Jordan for a 38 yard bomb with 3:30 to go in the half to get within reach at 28-14.
With all the fireworks in the first half, fans thought they would see more scoring, but neither team could find the end zone in the second half as Bishop Hendricken held to that halftime lead as our final was indeed 28-14.
The Hawks improve to 4-0 while the Rams drop to 2-1.
