There’s a lot going on over the month of May here in Las Vegas, starting with weekly fireworks at The Plaza Hotel and Casino. Beginning May 24th for Memorial Day weekend through August 30th for Labor Day weekend, the property will have a fireworks display at 9:15pm to kick off the weekend.

Fremont Street

This new addition will be just one more reason to enjoy the Fremont Street Experience, which already entertains with the Slotzilla Zipline, the Viva Vision Light Show and three stages that feature live music and DJ’s. Fremont Street will also be home to “Drinko de Mayo,” to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. If you’ve ever been to Fremont Street on a holiday, then you know that it will be extra busy and a lot of fun.

The same construction on the Strip continues, including the ongoing transition of the former Bally’s Jubilee Tower into the new Versailles Tower that is now a part of Paris. Construction at The Venetian also continues, as they have begun their $1-billion renovation project throughout the property. This includes $188 million allocated to meeting and convention facilities.

While May is technically spring on the calendar, in Vegas it feels like summer. Daily highs are typically in the high 80’s on up into the 90’s. At night, expect it to cool down 20-30 degrees. These temperatures are perfect for a Vegas pool day! Pools do fill up fast and one difference from last pool season is the significant increase in the cost of alcoholic beverages from the pool bars.

For example, a bucket of five beers or seltzers last year ranged from $45-$55 at Caesar’s Properties and this year for six beers or seltzers the price increased to $83!

Now this is all just a list of events taking place here that are in addition to the shows, comedians and magicians that perform in Las Vegas on a regular basis (which is too many to list). One show that recently returned to Las Vegas and we recommend adding to your list is Jersey Boys.

While this show used to be here years ago, the new production has returned bigger and better to The Orleans and boasts the full Broadway version of the musical.  This $12 million production includes one of the original sets along with original costumes and wigs from Broadway. The 10-piece band combined with the amazing vocals of the talented cast makes the audience want to sing and dance to the songs of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, while enjoying the story behind the band.

As we always recommend, be sure to stay up to date on any events, as new things are added to the events calendar daily here and concerts can be canceled with little notice. Also be sure to check with the venue for the event on their policies of items that can and cannot be brought into the venue.
