It’s all saints day, it’s New Orleans, it’s a clash between 2 parochial school powerhouses. The Holy Cross Tigers face off with the Brother Martin Crusaders in the Big Easy!
Brother Martin celebrated homecoming but it was Holy Cross’ quick start that set the tone . Wide Receiver Jalen Johnson for Holy Cross had an expectational reception from his big arm QB John Dade Wooten to put the Tigers on the board early. But Johnson’s night wasn’t done, he had 3 scores on the night making him our player of the game.
Holy Cross seemed completely in command in the first half.
Brother Martin’s QB Garrett Mmahat was held short of the goal line on the final play of the first half and the Tigers took a 28-14 lead into the half.
Brother Martin would re-group and dominate time of possession and punch in 2 scores. The final score came off a Holy Cross QB fumble inside Brother Martin’s 30. Brother Martin would match down field and punch it in.
They leaned on their running game led by Chris Smith and it delivered, getting the TD to put the Crusaders within an extra point to tie at 28-27.
Coach Mark Bonis elects to go for two and converts as the Crusaders win 29-28.
Brother Martin goes to 8-1 on the season with a big victory in the Big Easy.
