Defending State Champions Meet to Open Season
The Acadiana Wreckin Rams go on the road to take on Lafayette Christian. The Rams are the #1 ranked team in Class 5A and #2 ranked team in Louisiana. The Knights are #1 in 2A District 6 and #8 in the state.
Acadiana completed the school’s first undefeated season with an 8-to-3 victory over Destrehan in LHSAA Class 5A. It is the fifth state championship in school history. Going into the season, Acadiana loses a lot of offensive talent but returns some defensive stalwarts including DE/OLB Cam George.
Lafayette Christian won its third state title last year with a 41-14 beat down of St. Charles in the LHSAA DIII championship. The Knights are 39-2 over the last three seasons. In the new LHSAA alignment, this season Lafayette Christian moves into Class 2 District 6.

Another Ram to keep your eye on is senior DB/LB Chris Celestine. He’s a transfer from Lafayette Christian and will be going up against his old team.
For the Knights, 5-Star safety Sage Ryan enters his senior season as the #2 rated player in Louisiana. He’s also considered the #1 safety and the 28th overall prospect in the nation. Ryan is a threat on both sides of the ball including special teams. He’s received offers from a who’s who of college teams including LSU, Alabama and Clemson.
The Knights also have several heavily recruited juniors including DT Fitzgerald West.
