The Providence Friars shot only 34 percent from the field and made only two of 19 three-point field goals as they dropped an 80-63 game to DePaul on Saturday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
Ed Cooley said after the game that some players – namely Kyron Cartwright and Rodney Bullock – were dealing with illness throughout the week. Still he gave no excuses in his teams sluggish performance in an important Big East game, calling the Friars’ play “disgusting.”
We did not play well and could not get into a rhythm. DePaul played well. We have regroup and get ready for a great Villanova team. E Cooley. #gofriars pic.twitter.com/j3iFMk2oXd

After missing their chance to get to eight wins in conference play, Providence next plays Villanova on Wednesday night at home. The DePaul loss will be quickly forgotten if the Friars can come to play and get a critical game vs the Wildcats. While there are still a guaranteed seven Big East games left, each one becomes more and more important moving forward with PC now at 7-5 in league play.
With the #1 team in the country coming to town, it’s imperative to focus on the future and forget everything about yesterday’s performance.
