The Moore Lions hosted the Yukon Millers at Moore Schools Stadium Thursday night in Moore, Oklahoma. It didn’t take long to get the scoring going.
On Moore’s first play from scrimmage, Quarterback Daniel Hishaw, Jr. found Wide Receiver Brandon Girard over the middle and Girard turned on the speed and took the ball 80 yards to put Moore up 6-0 less than a minute into the game. Yukon then drove right back the other way to tie the score on a 1 yard TD by Quarterback Levi Davis to tie the score at 6.
Thursday night’s game saw a hectic first two quarters as 62 points were scored before halftime.
Yukon also scored on a 4 yard Makari Slaughter run, and a 32 yard score by Cameron Farmer for their 21 first-half points.
Moore got another 68 yard reception for a TD by Brandon Girard, a 20 yard run from Kansas commit Hishaw, runs of 19 and 33 yards by Jayce Gardner and a fumble recovery returned 35 yards by Jaiden West just before halftime to build a 41-21 lead.
In the second half Yukon methodically took control and got a touchdown run from Slaughter at the 4:21 mark of the third quarter. When Yukon’s Landon Donoho scored at the 7:15 mark of the fourth quarter, Yukon had cut the deficit to six at 41-35.On Moore’s next possession, Daniel Hishaw, Jr. scrambled for a critical first down on a third and long play. Then he found his friend Brandon Girard who again broke tackles and ran down to the Yukon 1. Girard took it from the one and Moore went on to win the game by a score of 49 to 35.
Yukon falls to 1-2. Moore is now 1-1.
