The Southmoore Sabercats and the Mustang Broncos met Friday night in Mustang for a 6A Division I District 2 matchup. Southmoore came in 0-5, while Mustang carried a 3-2 overall record.
On Mustang’s first play from scrimmage Khary Brown went 61 yards down the sideline to put Mustang up 7-0. Southmoore struck back with Jaedyn Scott’s 50 yard keeper to tie the game at 7. Mustang then got a 5 yard touchdown from Kolton Humphrey and a thirty yard score by Khary Brown to lead after one quarter 21-7.
In the second Southmoore’s Cameron Little kicked a 27 yard field goal to pull the Sabercats within 11 at 21-10. Then Southmoore’s Kris Wilson ran one in from 48 yards. Mustang’s lead was down to four, 21-17.
Then it was Khary Brown scoring again, this time for 71 yards. He had over 200 yards in the first half. Jordan McFadden also scored late in the second quarter. Mustang led at halftime 35-17.
The third quarter was all Mustang. Kory Soulinthavong kicked a 27 yard field goal. Khary Brown had another 30 yard TD. Harvey Phillips got a 7 yard touchdown and Mustang led 52-17 after three.
In the fourth Dylan Bohuslavicky and George Lonzaga scored for the Broncos. Southmoore’s Reece Moffett returned a kickoff 65 yards for a score as well. Mustang wins by a final score of 66-24.
The Ford Player of the Game was Khary Brown.
He carried the ball nine times for 268 yards and four touchdowns.
