The 6-4 Jenks Trojans and the 7-3 Mustang Broncos opened 6A-I playoff competition in Mustang, Oklahoma Friday night.
The Trojans took the opening kick and conducted a 12-play 65-yard drive that consumed most of the first quarter and led to a 2-yard touchdown by Will Cox. Jenks led 7-0.
Mustang’s Harvey Phillips blocked a Jenks field goal attempt early in the second quarter but the Broncos couldn’t get anything going offensively in the first half. Meanwhile Jenks quarterback Stephen Kittleman threw a screen pass to Will Cox for a 28-yard touchdown. Then with just under a minute to go in the first half another Kittleman screen went to Justin Murphy for 46 yards and a 21-0 Jenks lead at the half.
On Mustang’s first possession of the second half quarterback Hayden Conrad connected with Tristan Plumlee who eluded and out ran the Jenks defense 82 yards to get the Broncos on the board at 21-7. But Jenks responded quickly. First was a Will Cox 40-yard touchdown run. Then touchdown passes to Branden Elrod of 24 yards, and 36 yards to Bo Estes built the Trojan lead to 41-7.
A nice pass play from Conrad to Chris Doran set up a 6-yard touchdown run by Devon Martin for the Broncos. That made the score 41-16. But Jenks would score twice more in the third quarter. First was a 22-yard pass to Malachi Penland. And then late in the third quarter Grant Lohr picked off a Conrad pass and returned it 53 yards for a touchdown. At the end of three quarters Jenks led 55-14.
In the fourth quarter Mustang scored twice. The first was a 39 yard TD pass to Jordan McFadden. That was followed by a 55 yard TD pass to Khary Brown. Both those touchdowns were followed by two point conversions. The final score was Jenks 55, Mustang 28.

The Ford Player of the Game was Jenks quarterback Stephen Kittleman who had 5 touchdown passes in the game. Jenks improves to 7-4 on the season and advances to a 6A-I semifinal versus Moore. Mustang finishes the season 7-4.
